Mulching is the best way to help plants retain moisture as well as helping excess water from runoff. Too much mulch though can be harmful to plants and keep plants from getting the necessary moisture they need to not just survive but to thrive. A layer of 3-4 inches is ideal making sure it is not mounded up around the base of the tree or plant.

There are several different kinds of mulch but the most common ones we install are dyed brown, dyed black, natural brown, and screened compost mulch.

Not only is mulch good for plant health but it is also a great way to spruce up your landscaping each year and should be done on a yearly basis to keep everything looking great.
